The FIDE Trainers' Commission wishes a very happy 80th birthday to Anatoly Bykhovsky, International Master and International Arbiter. Bykhovsky was trainer of the Soviet Union (later Russian) National Junior Team starting in 1967 until 1991 when it was first created, with World Champions Anatoly Karpov, Garry Kasparov and Vladimir Kramnik all amongst his three generations of students! In more recent years he has been long time personal trainer of very great talent Alexander Grischuk and Chairman of Trainers' Council of the Russian Chess Federation.

FIDE Senior Trainer and Grand Master Zaitsev became one of the trainers of World Champion Anatoly Karpov in the late 1970s and was one of Karpov's seconds in a number of his World Championship matches, including the matches against Garry Kasparov in 1984 to 1990. Karpov popularized Zaitsev's line at the top level, playing it with success for many years. Zaitsev is Honoured Coach of USSR and Russia. In 2006 he was awarded the title of FIDE Senior Trainer.

Viktor Savelievich Zheliandinov trained Grand Masters Oleg Romanishin, Adrian Mikhalchishin and European Champion Mateusz Bartel, among others. Vassily Ivanchuk was in Viktor's Chess School of the Lviv Army Chess Club, who went on to coach him on super-tournaments in the mid-nineties. Viktor was Champion of Belorussia and the Warsaw Pact 1967 ahead of Geller, Savon and Hort. He took 17th position at the USSR 1967 Championship. He trained National teams of Ukraine and Yemen.

We congratulate the famous trainer Victor Kart, founder of Lvov chess school in 1960, and who is turning 80 on 19 June. He was trainer of the Ukraine National teams from 1967 and his teams won many USSR Championships and the European Cup in 1984, his last duty as National team Trainer was the Chess Olympiad in Manila 1992. A close friend of the legendary Leonid Stein, Kart’s best pupils are Aleksandr Beliavsky, Oleg Romanishin, Marta Litinska, Adrian Mikhalchishin, and Zoya Lelchuk. Kart was in 1976 also the trainer of Gary Kasparov for World Cadet Championship. On the base of his work, the next generation of the Lvov Chess school appeared – Vassily Ivanchuk, Irina Chelushkina, Iossif Dorfman, Katerina Lahno, Andrei Volokitin, the Muzychuk sisters, and many other young IGMs. Nowadays he lives in Hannover, Germany. His pupils wish him many more long and productive years.

The FIDE Trainers' Commission wishes a very happy 75th birthday to our Commission member Anatoly Bykhovsky, International Master and International Arbiter. Bykhovsky was trainer of the Soviet Union (later Russian) National Junior Team starting in 1967 until 1991 when it was first created, with World Champions Anatoly Karpov, Garry Kasparov and Vladimir Kramnik all amongst his three generations of students! In more recent years he has been long time personal trainer of very great talent Alexander Grischuk and currently serves as Chairman of Trainers' Council of the Russian Chess Federation.

100 year jubillee of Igor Zakharovich Bondarevsky, a Soviet Russian Grand Master in both over-the-board and correspondence chess, an International Arbiter, trainer, and chess author. Bondarevsky shared the 1940 Soviet title, and later coached World Champion Boris Spassky.
