2.2. FIDE Trainer Titles
b) There are six (6) FIDE Trainer titles: four (4) titles which are awarded through seminars, one (1) is through successful graduation in a recognised sports chess program, and one (1) title a recognition of a lifelong contribution or extraordinary achievements as a trainer.
v. FIDE International Trainer (FIT)
TRG will introduce the FIDE International Trainer title in partnership with select universities, colleges and institutes worldwide to offer a Chess Sports Science Diploma Program by end 2021. The FIT title may also be awarded in cases of high quality work and exceptional performance.
vi. FIDE Senior Trainer (FST)
The FIDE Senior Trainer Title is a title given for distinct service to chess over a long period of time, awarded once a year by the FIDE Council according TRG recommendation of a direct or nominated application. Outstanding trainers will be also invited to become FST.
WE ARE INTRODUCING THE NEW FIT TITLE WHICH IS TO BE LINKED TO A CHESS SPORTS ACADEMIC QUALIFICATION. BUT WE ARE ALSO USING IT TO UPGRADE CURRENT FST NOT READY TO BE GIVEN HONORARY STATUS.
NOTE THAT WE ARE NOT TAKING ANYTHING FROM THE ORIGINAL GROUP OF FREE FST BUT EXPANDING TO INCLUDE ALL EMINENT PLAYERS NOW BECOMING TRAINERS WITH SAME RIGHTS.
WE SHOULD NOT OBJECT TO GREAT PLAYERS AND NEW TRAINERS LIKE ANAND, KRAMNIK, ETC. BEING INVITED AND THIS WILL BRING ALL INTO THE SYSTEM AND ENHANCE OUR CREDIBILITY.
2.3. Upgrade & Recertification
a) Effective 1 January 2021, TRG will review all new licence renewals with the aim of recognising the work and achievements of licenced trainers by converting the current license to one of those specified above in the Art. 2.2, and/or by inclusion in a short list for a FIDE Trainer Award.
b) This process does not apply to holders of the FIDE Senior Trainer title, awarded according to the Calvia GA decision in 2004.
WITH EACH LICENCE RENEWALWE WILL HAVE THE OPORTUNITY TO RATIONALISE THE SYSTEM. THERE WILL BE SOME WHO WILL GET OVERDUE UPGRADES.
AN INDEPENDENT PANEL WILL BE FORMED TO MAKE THESE DECISIONS OR AT LEAST REVIEW THAT OF OUR OWN EXAM PANEL RESPONSIBLE TO MAKE THE EVALUATION.
4. FIDE Endorsed Academies Program
a) FIDE Endorsed Academy applications need to be underwritten by a FIDE licensed trainer and must be supported by the respective National Chess Federation and/or Continental or FIDE Affiliated Organization in its jurisdiction, with a 10 working days period for any objections.
a) FIDE Endorsed Academy applications need to be underwritten by a FIDE licensed trainer and must be supported by the respective National Chess Federation and/or Continental or FIDE Affiliated Organization in its jurisdiction, with a 10 working days period for any objections. In exceptional cases, however, TRG may accept other written confirmations of the applicant’s good reputation, provided that such confirmations are exhaustive, reliable and confirm the reputation without any reasonable doubt.
THIS IS THE BEST WE COULD COME UP WITH. TWO OPTIONS TO CHOOSE AND ULTIMATELY A MANAGEMENT AND POLICY DECISION AS INVOLVES RIGHTS OF FEDERATIONS.
MANY FEDERATIONS REFUSE TO APPROVE ACADEMY APPLICATIONS AS THEY ARE SEEN TO WANT TO HAVE THIS STATUS WITH RIGHTS ALLOWING COMPETITION WITH THEM AND TO BE FAIR THIS IS OFTEN THE CASE WHEN IT IS NOT MAINLY TO GET THE RIGHT TO USE FIDE LOGO AND HAVE THIS ASSOCIATION FOR COMMERCIAL REASONS.
4.3. Academy Rights & Obligations
b) FIDE Endorsed Academies have the right to enter one player in each age group category of a FIDE event that is not part of the FIDE World Championship cycle and also in that of the Continent and region where the Federation it is registered with is a member.
c) A FIDE Endorsed Academy also has the right to organize FIDE rated and titled tournaments, providing it can meet all tournament requirements and pay the fees, and is allowed to submit the application and report directly to FIDE with copy to TRG and their respective Federation.
d) TRG may directly appoint suitable FIDE Endorsed Academies with the agreement of the FIDE Management to provide regional representation.
i) A FIDE Endorsed Academy is held to the highest standards of care regarding its association with FIDE, and misrepresentation, even non-compliance in either administrative or financial matters will result in suspension by decision of TRG Council or termination after review by FIDE Council.
j) In case of breach of the standards of care as specified above TRG will inform the FIDE Management Board and ask the Ethics and Disciplinary Commission for suitable sanctions.
THESE ARE VERY SERIOUS RIGHTS AND OUR ACADEMIES MODEL IS SHAPED BY THIS – WE CAN EITHER GO MASS MARKET BY CREATING A CO-EXISTENCE WITH FEDERATIONS IN DEVELOPMENT WORK OR WE CAN WORK WITH A SELECT FEW WHO CAN GENERALLY CO-OPERATE WITH CONTINENTS AND NATIONAL CHESS FEDERATION AS WE ARE NOW DOING WITH OUR REGIONAL ACADEMIES.
4.4. Current Endorsed Academies Compliance
It is expected that the Academies that have been granted the relevant status before the date of these regulations will do their best in order to comply with the requirements specified herein as soon as possible, and full compliance is expected no later than on the 1 of January 2022 unless the term is reasonably extended by the TRG.
AGAIN, TO GET EVERYONE ON THE SAME PAGE.
7.2. Title & License Fees
a) The is only one (1) universal title fee for all trainers of 100 Euros paid together with participation in a seminar and that also includes the first two year’s license (year of award and next year).
b) No fee shall be charged for honorary FIDE Senior Trainer titles and no examination will be required. The decision that the FST is honorary is made by the TRG Сouncil. Also, the FST title holders whose title was awarded according to the Calvia GA decision are not obliged to pay any license fee or to pass new examination.
All other FST title holders will be subject to review by the exam panel after 10 years to be designated as honorary or be redesignated as FIT or FT according to their active status.
b) Subsequent license fees (license renewal fees) of 200 Euros for four (4) years are due no later than end January, and trainers with non-payment will have titles removed from the system after a two-month grace period.
c) Renewals are backdated but a license cannot be renewed once it has lapsed for two years and the trainer will then be required to attend a new seminar and pass a new exam in order to be relicensed.
d) No fee or new examination shall be needed later for individuals who turn 65 while having a valid trainer’s license. The license will thus be automatically renewed.
e) A trainer license can be renewed twice within a non-interrupted maximum period of ten (10) years, after which he or she will be required to be evaluated without charge for recertification and a possible title upgrade.
THIS HAS BEEN CHECKED BY FINANCE AND CONFIRMED TO BE EQUAL OR MORE REVENUE.
